One of my favorite place to get Peruvian food and charbroiled chicken. Everything of their menu is good. Charbroiled chicken served in quarter or half with two sides. You can order white meat or dark meat. There is a large selection of Peruvian specialties. Plus Salad, Soup, Sandwiches, Tacos, Burritos, kabob, and kids meal. You will have a hard time to decide what to order. I had charbroiled marinated Lamb Chops with Green Beans and salad. The lamb chops were so tender and so tasty. I really enjoyed them. My husband ordered 1/4 chicken (white meat) with two sides. Food was delicious and cooked well. It was only a little over $10. Service was amazing.
Overview
The first time I walked into Fire & Chicken, I was coming off a long workday and craving something comforting but bold. That craving made sense the moment the aroma hit-crispy chicken, warm spices, and that unmistakable smell of food being cooked fresh, not rushed. Located at 7073 Unit B Mechanicsville Tpke, Mechanicsville, VA 23111, United States, this spot has quietly built a loyal following, and after multiple visits, itβs easy to see why locals keep talking about it.
At Fire & Chicken, the menu doesnβt try to be flashy. Instead, it focuses on doing a few things extremely well. The fried chicken is the star, marinated for hours before it ever touches hot oil. A cook once explained to me that they follow a double-dredge process-seasoned flour, rest time, then a final coat-which is a method commonly recommended by professional chefs for achieving consistent crunch. According to food science research shared by the USDA, proper oil temperature and rest time help seal moisture inside poultry, and that technique shows up clearly in every bite here. The chicken stays juicy, even under a thick, crackly crust.
One visit stands out when I ordered their wings alongside a classic chicken sandwich. The wings had that bold heat done right, layered with flavor rather than just spice. The sandwich, stacked high with a golden fillet, reminded me of roadside diners across the South where simplicity rules. Friends who joined me later commented on the tenders, calling them crispy without being greasy, which lines up with many customer reviews posted online. Consistency is something diners notice, and this place delivers it more often than not.
What adds to the experience is how the staff interacts with guests. On my second visit, I asked about portion sizes before ordering for a small group. The cashier walked me through the menu options, explaining which combos worked best for sharing and which sauces paired well with specific items. That kind of practical guidance reflects real hands-on experience, not rehearsed upselling. Itβs the kind of service the National Restaurant Association often highlights as a key factor in repeat visits, and it shows here in action.
The dining room itself feels relaxed, leaning more toward a neighborhood diner than a polished chain. Families stop in after games, solo diners grab quick meals, and groups linger over baskets of chicken and sides. While the location isnβt flashy, itβs easy to get to, with convenient parking that makes takeout just as appealing as eating in. For anyone browsing locations in Mechanicsville, this one stands out for accessibility alone.
Online reviews tend to echo what you experience in person: strong flavors, generous portions, and fair pricing. A few diners mention wait times during peak hours, which is worth noting if youβre in a hurry. That said, the food arriving hot and freshly made explains the delay, and most guests agree itβs a fair trade-off. No kitchen is perfect, and like any busy spot, timing can vary, but transparency and quality help balance expectations.
Chicken-focused restaurants live or die by execution, and Fire & Chicken shows a clear understanding of that responsibility. Drawing on proven cooking methods, attentive service, and a menu built around crowd favorites, it manages to feel dependable without being boring. Every visit reinforces the sense that this is a place run by people who know their food and care about how it reaches the table, which is ultimately what keeps customers coming back.

Best rice bowls! The chicken is over the top good. Sauces really compliment the meals. And Get weekly! This place is amazing! Not a β date night β type of atmosphere But probably great for a big party. Plenty of space !!
Delicious food and great service. Got the chicharrΓ³n platter special with fried plantains and yucca fries. Had grapefruit juice.
I had the Chupe De Camerones. Five star meal. It had shrimp, carrots, corn, pea and rice all together in a chowder. Great soup to have on a cold day. This is the second time that I have eaten here . Iβve left here full and happy both times.
Ines our waiter was amazing! She answered our questions and gave great recommendations for my first time having Peruvian food. 5/5 experience all around. Super clean atmosphere, the food was great and Ines was wonderful. I recommend the lamb chops. I will be back!
Absolutely wonderful place. Chicken is moist and well cooked. Fried rice was flavorful. The person who took our order was so nice and kind. The only reason for the lower rating is because it seems like they just opened and are still getting things set up (TVs, music, etc), but the food is definitely . Will be back here often!
Delicious!!! Highly recommend orders from the Peruvian Specialties Menu! After talking about trying this place out for years, we finally came last week. We loved it so much we came back this week and are already planning for next week!
